Portage Glacier is located an hour South of Anchorage. While driving to Homer we came upon this beautiful scene. I told my wife to look at that reflection. I just knew I had to paint this image. I am happy with how it turned out. You can turn it upside down and it is just as beautiful.
Between the fire in the sky and the whales down below, I like to imagine the beauty of two whales dancing beneath the snow capped glaciers in Alaska. This was a fun imaginative creation from my artist’s point of view.
When I first came to Sitka, I was stationed on a U.S. Coast Guard Cutter and I looked at the view of ANB Harbor every morning from the bridge of the ship. I fell in love with that scene of Sitka. It is my most challenging painting and also my favorite.
In the spring, Sitka Sound is full of nursing mother otters with their pups. The pups sleep soundly on their mother’s chest. This mother did not realize I was there until the last second. She looked up at me. I love the expression in her eyes. She quickly dove under to protect her pup.
This landmark was built by our local veterinarian. I feel it is one of the most picturesque scenes in Sitka. Mt. Edgecumbe in the background completes this stunning view.
Sitka Sound is full of Sea Otters. I love to sneak up on them in our boat. This big guy was fast asleep and I watched him with my camera focused in on him. My dog barked and this is my favorite otter expression from that day.
While floating the Yukon River in the fall, we would often come around a bend in the river to see these magnificent bears as we floated by. The mother and cub would stand to get a better view of us. I was glad we were in a boat and were able to enjoy each other without any issues.
These comical birds, called Puffins, return each year to the rookery in Sitka located on St. Lazaria Island. I have spent many hours photographing these puffins. I love this particular image of two puffins being affectionate with each other.
A gathering of my favorite totems from the Sitka National Historical Park - known locally as Totem Park. I wanted to add the fireweed that blooms and grows wild here in Sitka.
This is my most favorite panoramic view of Sitka - my home for over half a century. Arrowhead is a popular hiking destination.
These large, comical birds called Ravens are very intelligent. I love to hear them communicate with each other and I like to make Raven sounds and hear them respond to me. This background is one of my favorite techniques using salt.
Raven was a new creation by Keith Greba in 2025. We love this exquisite print, the colors and the character are bold and modern.
My town since the early 1970s. I came to Sitka as a young Sailor in the U.S. Coast Guard. Never did I imagine that this beautiful place would become my home. Viewing historic St. Michael’s Cathedral, the majestic Arrowhead Mountain, kayaking, and flightseeing are just a few of the wonderful things to do and see while visiting our beautiful Sitka.
Mendenhall Glacier is one of the only glaciers located in Southeast Alaska in Juneau that you can drive to. This is a spring painting of the glacier and I wanted to use lupine and evening alpine glow colors to create this painting.
This is my rendition of what I think a whale would look like as it dives underneath the ocean. I really like how the background showed the motion of the whale as he dove. The technique using salt and bleach really created the added effect that I was hoping for.
While floating the Yukon River in the fall, we would often come around a bend in the river to see these magnificent bears as we floated by. The mother and cub would stand to get a better view of us. I was glad we were in a boat and were able to enjoy each other without any conflict.
When commercial fishermen longline for halibut or black cod, it is often out beyond the coastal waters around Sitka, and they are literally on the edge of the continental shelf.

This painting of Sitka Sound in early spring captures the beauty of snow covered Mt. Edgecumbe. It has been a favorite view of mine for years. I see so many eagles flying in this area feeding on the spring herring. The painting came together and I am happy to share my rendition of one of my favorite views.
